South Beach Closed After Swimmers Stung by Portuguese Man O'War

Several people have been stung by the toxic sea creatures, according to an announcement from the town of Edgartown. The beach was reopened Thurday morning.

Edgartown officials closed South Beach to swimmers at about 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to a bulletin from the town:

"South Beach has been closed to swimming due to several Portuguese Man of War stings."

The beach was reopened Thursday morning with swimmers cautioned to keep an eye out and to enter the water at their own risk.
