Alleged Vineyard Heroin Dealer Faces Trial

"You guys got me good this time. I'm screwed ... You guys gave me so many warnings," Jeffrey Moore told Martha's Vineyard Drug Task Force agents when he was arrested at his Tisbury home, a detective said.

A 42-year-old Tisbury man arrested in a February drug raid has had his trafficking case moved from Edgartown District Court to Dukes County Superior Court, according to court records.

Jeffrey Moore faces two counts of possessing heroin and morphine for sale after he was arrested Feb. 2 by Martha's Vineyard Drug Task Force officers from several Island towns.

Drug investigators have long had their eye on Moore, who has a six-page criminal record including 33 offenses, eight violations of probation and a conviction for escape.

"You guys got me good this time. I’m screwed ... You guys gave me so many warnings,” Moore told officers when he was arrested, according to a written report by Detective Nicholas Curelli.

According to Curelli's report, task force officers serving a search warrant at Moore's Walker Way home encountered a known opiate addict outside who told them he had just shot up with Moore inside the house.

The drug agents seized 18.5 grams of heroin with a value of $3,600, 10 tabs of methadone valued at $300 and 6.5 tabs of suboxone valued at $200, Curelli wrote.

Friday in Edgartown District Court, the case against Moore was dismissed nolle prosequi (decline to prosecuted) and he was indicted and arraigned in Dukes County Superior Court.

He remains jailed in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or a $500,000 bond.

Moore said he traveled to Providence to buy heroin for $70 a gram, Curelli wrote in his report, adding "I know that heroin is regularly sold on Martha's Vineyard for $200 a gram.
