The Martha's Vineyard Sharks responded after a loss to the Rox on Wednesday night and rallied to beat the same Rox on Thursday. Sharks starter Trevor Breton (WNEU) took on Alex Palioca (Wheaton), with Breton taking the win and Palioca the loss on the night.
In the 2nd inning, both teams were able to get on the board. A Ryan Tufts (Virginia Tech) single scored Dave Pepe (Pace), which was followed by a Garrett Kelly (Wake Forest) double that put the Rox up 3-0. In the bottom half of the inning, the Sharks rallied with 2 runs of their own. Davidson Peguero (Fisher) ripped a double that scored Eric Brenk (Wofford) and Chris Miller (Seton Hill). Breton settled in after the 2nd inning and cruised through the 7th inning before being replaced by Andy Sadoski (Bridgewater St).
In the 3rd, a Donnie Cimino (Wesleyan) double scored Tad Gold (Endicott), which tied up the score. In the 5th inning, the Sharks were able to go ahead for good. Gold scored once again when Cimino ripped a hot-shot that the shortstop was not able to handle. Sadoski and Matt Calamoneri (Scranton) were able to close out the game for the Sharks and help them move into first-place over the Silver Knights. The Sharks return to action Friday (8/2) at the Torrington Titans with the first pitch at 705 pm.

There are some changes to the future schedule: August 4th is now a doubleheader starting at 4 & 645, August 7th start time is now 645, August 10th is a rescheduled game with the Rox starting at 7, and the playoffs begin August 11th!
