SHARKS DOWN SILVER KNIGHTS TO STAY IN FIRST

The Martha's Vineyard Sharks used solid pitching and thorough hitting to down the Nashua Silver Knights 4-3. Sharks starter Matt Timoney (Harvard) pitched 7 innings, striking out 4 and only giving up 2 runs and got the win for the Sharks, while Matt Tulley (Virginia Tech) took the loss. 

In the top of the 1st, the Sharks got on the board with an RBI double from Ryan Siegel (Mercyhurst). A Chris MIller (Seton Hill) home-run led off the top of the 2nd inning, whihc put the Sharks up 2-0. Nashua was able to cut the lead in half with a Jimmy Ricoy (Umass Lowell) homer in the bottom of the 2nd. In the bottom of the 3rd, the Silver Knights tied the game on a sacrifice fly from Johnny Adams (Boston College).

The game remained tied until the 6th inning, when a Donnie Cimino (Wesleyan) single was able to score the go-ahead run. Martha's Vineyard was able to add an insurance run in the 8th on a Eric Brenk (Wofford) single. Matt Calamoneri (Scranton) was able to come in and get the save for the Sharks. Ryan Siegel continues to lead the league in batting average, and Chris Miller hit his first home-run of the summer. The Sharks return to action Sunday for a double-header against the Dirt Dawgs starting at 4.

August 7th start time is now 645, August 10th is a rescheduled game with the Rox starting at 7, and the playoffs begin August 11th!
