ERRORS PLAGUE SHARKS AS WACHUSETT RALLIES
The Martha's Vineyard Sharks were unable to overcome a horrendous 8-error first game of the double-header and were taken down by the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. Sharks starter Bob Carbaugh (Seton Hill) went 7 innings, in the shortened game, but took a no decision for the game. Newcomer Alex Pernick (UNC Wilmington) relieved Carbaugh but gave up the winning run when Sharks third baseman Eric Brenk (Wofford) was not able to handle a liner from John Jennings (Umass Amherst).
Wachusett had the early lead, with 2 runs in the first inning on a Nate Pajka (Bates) home run. THe Sharks chipped away at the lead with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning on a Donnie Cimino (Wesleyan) double. In the 3rd inning, Dylan Tice (IUP) hit a 2-run homer, his 6th of the summer. However, the Sharks were not able to hold the lead, as Wachusett tied it back up in the top of the 4th. A game that was originally only 7 innings was pushed into "extras" in the 8th. The Sharks were unable to come back after giving up a run in the top of the inning.
Sharks play again at 645.
