I am a lifelong resident of Martha's Vineyard, save three years in the US Army, the college years, and then nearly 10 years living the city professional life in Boston.

After graduating from Boston University with a degree in Journalism, editorial-print, I embarked on my career. I first wrote for several weekly and daily newspapers in the Boston-metro area for two/three years then followed a colleague to CBS's CNET News.com, where I covered Internet technology, e-commerce, Y2K, and desktop applications.

I left CNET after five years, feeling I didn't want my career to be just all about tech and Web business. I had always wanted my career to end up writing about the oceans I grew up around.

This brought me to my current employer Capamara Communications in Canada, which publishes Aquaculture North America and Hatchery International trade papers with subscribers from here in the USA to Japan to Norwaty and everywhere in between. I've worked for them for three years so far.

I want this blog to be a spot where I can talk more freely about what I'm covering and my thoughts on sustainable aquaculture, the fastest growing food production sector in the world.
