MVRHS Students Win Big at the 2013 Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards
High School artists are recognized for their talent in photography, drawing, ceramics, paint and more.
Martha's Vineyard Regional High School art students brought home a record number of awards from the prestigious Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards this month. 38 of the 67 pieces submitted in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, graphics and architecture received recognition. Gold portfolio awards recipients include: This makes these students eligible for scholarships from art schools across the country. This award is only open to graduating seniors who submit an eight-piece portfolio of artwork (sometimes themed, sometimes showing range). Please keep in mind that there is also a local scholarship from the Martha's Vineyard Art Association for students intending to continue on to undergraduate studies at an accredited art school, which includes a show at the historic Old Sculpin Gallery in June.
