Music Teacher Grammy Nominations Close Today

Today is the deadline to nominate your favorite music teacher for a newly-established Grammy award honoring music educators. What Martha's Vineyard music teachers do you think are worthy of this award? Tell us in the comments.

The April 15 deadline is upon us for a new Grammy award honoring music educators. The new award will be presented for the first time during next year's awards ceremony. The Music Educator Award was created "to recognize music educators for their contributions to our musical landscape and their positive influence on their students' musical experiences," according to a press release from the Grammy Foundation, which continues: What Martha's Vineyard music teachers deserve to be nominated for this award? Library Concert Series Features Flying Elbows, Folk Music and More

Twilight Tuesdays continue with local music at the West Tisbury Grange on Tuesday, July 24th

The Flying Elbows string band will join Jemima James, Dan Waters and Al Schackman at the West Tisbury Grange Hall on Tuesday, July 24th, as the Tuesdays at Twilight concert series continues. The series benefits the West Tisbury Library Foundation, Inc., which is spearheading the capital campaign for the West Tisbury Free Public Library. With her warm, truth-telling voice and her 60s-era Gibson Hummingbird guitar, Jemima James is a cornerstone of the Vineyard folk-music scene. Before moving to Martha’s Vineyard to raise her family, she played in clubs in Greenwich Village, San Francisco and Los Angeles, where she appeared regularly at The Troubadour and The Hollywood Canteen.
