Toss out your old Steamship Authority schedules. The Island ferry company is switching over to a new schedule today, which will stay in effect until January 3, 2012. The biggest update to this schedule? No more ferries will depart from the Oak Bluffs terminal until warmer weather returns to the Island. The Steamship Authority has issued the following announcements, targeted at year-round Martha's Vineyard residents. Student and Youth Groups Did you know that ten or more individuals traveling with the Steamship Authority as a group for student-related travel in connection with an island school or recognized island youth group enjoy a discounted rate? Group fares for spectators are also available. Reservations are required. Please call the Group Sales Office at (508) 548-5011 ext. 244 or 344, open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. It's that time of year: Excursion rates are now down to $59, offseason parking permits are available.
One of the most important harbinger of the changing season is now upon us: Lower Steamship Authority excursion fares and off-season parking permits go into effect today. Passenger vehicles originating from Martha’s Vineyard and returning within one to 31 days are now eligible for excursion rates as low as $59 round-trip. The fare includes up to two adult and two child passengers. To be eligible for the excursion fare, you must be a Martha’s Vineyard resident. Additionally, you must be listed on your town’s street list and provide both a valid Massachusetts driver’s license and vehicle registration form with an Island address to the Martha’s Vineyard Steamship Authority Reservation Office near the Martha’s Vineyard Airport.
