$4,303 Forfeited in Edgartown Drug Dealing Plea
An Edgartown woman escaped a jail sentence but must forfeit more than $4,300 in cash that was seized during her arrest and pay more than $2,400 in fees, court records say.
Gabrielle Joubert, 24, will not do time for either of the drug counts that were brought against her in Edgartown District Court after her arrest last October at her family's Metcalf Drive, Edgartown home. According to a police statement, Officer Nicholas Curelli was executing a search warrant when, after being advised of her Miranda rights, Joubert showed Corelli a drawer full of oxycodone and Percocet pills. Corelli also seized the money, ledger sheets and Subutex pills, he said. Friday in Edgartown District Court, Joubert admitted to sufficient facts in a charge of possession to distribute a class B drug. I totally agree, and I regret the MVRHS principal chose to lean so hard on this. It is unrealistic to think kids wont experiment, especially with decriminalized substances, and it is equally unrealistic to think kids can entirely ignore peer pressure.
