This puffy-jacket-wearing perp grabbed an entire display of 30 Banana Republic neckties worth almost $60 each, Braintree police say.
Braintree police are looking for a man who stole approximately $1,785 worth of ties from Banana Republic at the South Shore Plaza. The man placed an entire display of 30 ties worth $59.50 each in a bag and fled the store on March 13, according to the law enforcement website MassMostWanted.com. The suspect was wearing a black puffy jacket and baseball hat. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Braintree Det. Steve Wallace at 781-794-8729 ext. 8729. Telling police he needed money for food and clothing after his parents died, a member of the MVRHS varsity basketball team admitted taking cash left in an unlocked home. Deshawn James, 18, was placed on probation until 2015.
An 18-year-old Oak Bluffs man charged with unarmed burglary, entering a building in the night time and larceny will not go to jail after admitting to sufficient facts in the case, according to court documents. Instead, Deshawn James, who plays on the varsity basketball team at Martha's Vineyard Regional High School, will be on probation for two years, perform 30 hours of community service and make restitution to his victims. Christopher James Koch is back in hot water with Barnstable police, who say they arrested him twice Monday and once on Feb. 1 when they issued him a summons for credit card larceny and arrested him for shoplifting eight hours later.

I totally agree, and I regret the MVRHS principal chose to lean so hard on this. It is unrealistic to think kids wont experiment, especially with decriminalized substances, and it is equally unrealistic to think kids can entirely ignore peer pressure.
