Production starts May 5 on the much-discussed reality TV show "The Vineyard," says a longtime Los Angeles television and film industry insider who has spent many summers on Martha's Vineyard. Texting late Wednesday night, the retired Hollywood producer and editor wrote that the show is "shooting from May 5-June 25 in Vineyard Haven ... Producers for the newly-announced ABC Family show "The Vineyard" aren't wasting any time: They're meeting with potential cast members at the Mansion House in Vineyard Haven this Thursday and Friday and holding more auditions in Boston over the weeked, according to reports in the Martha's Vineyard Times and Vineyard Gazette. Executive producer Dave Broome told the Times that shooting would begin in May and likely end before the Fourth of July. Reality shows equal trash in my opinion...and we don't need that here. Not very "Vineyard" and will not have any long term positive effects on the island economy. And May-June? That's, thankfully, not the heart of the Vineyard summer. It will be more like The Hills? Klassy...   more ›
