There is a lighthouse keeper at the door during open hours. Picnic areas are available for visitors, and a limited parking area is available for visitors' use on North Water Street. The lighthouse space is available to book for private functions such as weddings and parties.

Originally constructed in 1799, the currentMore lighthouse is over 150 years old and still guides the ships through the rocky waters off the coast of Aquinnah. East Chop Lighthouse

The East Chop Lighthouse is located on East Chop in Oak Bluffs. It dates back to 1869, and was errected by SilasMore Daggett. That lighthouse burned down soon after. In 1878, a new lighthouse was erected. It stands 40 feet tall with a focal plane 79 feet above mean high water. It is maintained by the Martha's Vineyard Museum. The East Chop Lighthouse is open seasonally on Sunday evenings around sunset. Admission is $5 for adults. It is also available for guests to host private parties. The Martha's Vineyard Museum is a quick walk from downtown Edgartown.  The Wampanoag Gallery showcases NativeMore American history and artifacts and the Kid's Gallery has artwork and research projects from local Island children of all ages. The Carriage Shop contains historic vessels and vehicles, including a restored 1856 fire engine.  In the middle of the property stands the Fresnal Lens Tower which was previously used to light the historic Gay Head Lighthouse.  Guided lighthouse tours are offered and the lighthouses can also be rented for private events. The library on premise is open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
