'The Martha's Vineyard Ferries' Play Vineyard Haven Gig

Tickets are just $5 to see the red-hot rock trio with Jellybone Rivers opening, 7 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Katharine Cornell Theatre.

Island native Elisha Wiesner and his comrades in the "summer fun punk band" The Martha's Vineyard Ferries, Bob Weston (formerly of Shellac, Volcano Suns, Mission of Burma) and Chris Brokaw (Come, Codeine, The New Year) are playing a rare local gig at the Katharine Cornell Theatre in Vineyard Haven Thursday.

Admission to the 7 p.m. show, with West Tisbury's Jellybone Rivers (Rob Myers) opening, costs $5.

The band's latest LP, wryly titled "Mass. Grave," came out in October on Kiam Records ($12.99). You can hear a track from it above.

After the Vineyard show, the band goes on to the Plough & Stars in Cambridge Friday, Death by Audio in Brooklyn Saturday and Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, NJ Sunday.
