Schoolhouse Rock! Comes Alive at Oak Bluffs School
Remember "Conjunction Junction?" "Three is a Magic Number?" "Interplanet Janet?" Hear them and all your other Schoolhouse Rock! favorites performed by more than 50 kids and a live band this weekend in Oak Bluffs.
You don't have to be a kid to appreciate "Schoolhouse Rock!" The 1970s educational television series on ABC hired acclaimed songwriters like Bob Dorough and Dave Frishberg to create catchy songs for animated cartoons that helped children — and their elders — get a grip on topics including the solar system, grammar and federal legislature.
This weekend, you can hear "Conjunction Junction,""Three is a Magic Number," "Interplanet Janet," and many more Schoolhouse Rock! favorites performed by more than 50 kids with a live band when the Oak Bluffs School presents its fall musical, Schoolhouse Rock Live!
Opening night is Friday at 7 p.m., followed by performances Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Oak Bluffs School, 50 Tradewinds Rd. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for children.
The show is directed by Shelagh Hackett with the assistance of Larissa Bernat. Brian Weiland is musical director.
