Fire Cooking, Duck Hunt, Disco Night, Artists Sale

Five fun things to do on Martha's Vineyard the weekend of Nov. 16-17, 2013.


  1. Saturday, the MV NAACP  50th Anniversary Community Health Fair takes place from 9:15 a.m to 9:45 a.m. at the Martha's Vineyard Regional High School. Free. 
  2. The Long Point Duck Hunt also takes place Saturday from 10 a.m.  to 2 p.m. Join The Trustees to celebrate the rich history of Long Point Wildlife Refuge with a day of family fun. $10, $5 members, kids free.
  3. Learn about Open Fire Cooking of local wild foods at Sassafras Earth Education in Aquinnah Saturday: Come and prepare Venison dishes, Jerky, Wild Duck, Root Veggie Special, and Wild Cranberry Cake, with chef/hunter/fisherman local native David Vanderhoop. 1 to 4 p.m., $35.
  4. Button up your leisure suit, strap on your spandex and be prepared to get Saturday Night Fever at the ROCK AUCTION: 70s Disco/Soul Dance Party Saturday at Dreamland in Oak Bluffs starting at 7 p.m. to benefit the Martha's Vineyard Charter School. $15. 
  5. Sunday, it's the Vineyard Artists Holiday Sale at the Martha's Vineyard Hebrew Center, 130 Center Street, Vineyard Haven with Jewelry, Ceramics, Glass, Soaps, Leather goods, Books, Clothing and more 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., free.
