Felix Neck Festival Celebrates Owls, Outdoors

Hayrides, face painting, live music by The Flying Elbows, food, wreath making, a weather station and crafts for kids, and baby barn owls you can watch in their nest via the Owl Cam. It's all happening Friday, Nov. 29 at Felix Neck; rain date Nov. 30.

The theme of this year's Felix Neck Fall Festival, taking place Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is "Owls – More Than Just a Hoot!"

Here's your invitation from Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary:

"Join us for our 23rd Annual Fall Festival. This celebration of fall is a Vineyard tradition held the day after Thanksgiving and draws hundreds of islanders and visitors each year. With hayrides, face painting, live music by The Flying Elbows, food, wreath making, a weather station and crafts for kids, there is fun to be had by all! Come see the baby barn owls through our owl cam.

Join us at 9am for a Guided Bird Walk with noted island birder Robert Culbert for a morning bird walk before our annual Fall Festival. Felix Neck’s habitats support a wide variety of birds, from herons to hawks, waders to warblers, and everything in between. All experience levels are welcome. Binoculars are available to borrow.

During the Festival, we will be joined by Marla Isaac of New England Reptile and Raptors. Marla returns to Fall Festival with her birds of prey including turkey vultures, osprey, and a variety of owls. She will have the birds displayed throughout the day and will offer three shows at 11am, 12:30pm, and 2pm. Be sure to stop by and get up close and personal with one of these amazing raptors!"

Mass Audubon works to protect the nature of Massachusetts for people and wildlife.  Together with more than 100,000 members, we care for 35,000 acres of conservation land, provide school, camp, and other educational programs for 225,000 children and adults annually, and advocate for sound environmental policies at local, state, and federal levels.  Founded in 1896 by two inspirational women who were committed to the protection of birds, Mass Audubon has grown to become a powerful force for conservation in New England.  Today we are respected for our sound science, successful advocacy, and innovative approaches to connecting people and nature.  Each year, our statewide network of wildlife sanctuaries welcomes nearly half a million visitors of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds and serves as a base for our work.  To support these important efforts, call 800-AUDUBON (800-283-8266) or visit www.massaudubon.org.
