Working Martha's Vineyard

Jonathan Castro moved to the Island to be closer to his parents and is now the owner of Tropical Restaurant in Vineyard Haven

Jonathan Castro is originally from Minas, Brazil. He came to the United States 10 years ago to be closer to his parents. He now owns the busy in Vineyard Haven that serves traditional Brazillian food. We caught up with him to find out more about what he thinks of working on Martha's Vineyard

Q. How long have you owned Tropical?

A. We've had this place for one year now.

Q. How long have you been living on MV?

A. 10 years. My parents lived here for 23 years. Before that I was living in Brazil.

Q. What is your favorite part of working on Martha's Vineyard?

A. It's safe and nice. There are civilized people here. I like it a lot.  

Q. Do you have other jobs?

A. Actually I don't have time for other jobs. I own this place so I only work here.

Q. What would you say is your dream job?

A. No one has dream jobs really. My dream is to make money. I work a lot, but I enjoy what I do.

Q. Do you see yourself living on Martha's Vineyard forever?

A. Not in Martha's Vineyard, but definitely in the United States. I love the country. It's very nice.
