The Circus Is Coming!

Cinema Circus returns to Chilmark for another summer of fun, food and films

When you hear the word 'Circus' what comes to mind? If it includes a fantastic amalgamation of jugglers, clowns, animals, hulu hoops and a bigger than life ringmaster to pull it all together, then you are in luck!

Cinema Circus, The Martha's Vineyard Films Festival’s summer program for kids, is back starting this Wednesday, June 27th. The Cinema Circus "Little Big Top” features an array of carnival fun including a loveable lion; a shy elephant named Ellie and interactive film exhibits. This week’s special guest is  whose delightful puppetry and live Americana music will delight kids of all ages.

Guests begin arriving at 5 pm and are welcomed by an array of circus personalities. Children can get in on the fun, have their faces painted and enjoy a delicious locally sourced, organic dinner provided by and . Blissed Out Smoothies, Chilmark Cottage Baker, and Not Your Sugar Mamas, will provide goodies and beverages and of course there will be delicious organic popcorn.

The circus fun is followed by a lively parade that takes guests into the theater to meet the Kid Critic and explore with Professor Projector how movies tell stories, followed by the show’s main attraction - a dynamic program of great short films from around the world! The theme of this week's collection of movies is "Together" and the short films come from France, Japan, Argentina, U.S.A, U.K., Germany, Belgium and South Africa.

General Admission tickets for members are $5 or $15 family pass ($95 annual family membership), and non-member tickets are $10 or $30 family pass (Islanders islander discount), children under 3 are free.
