Smokey Robinson, Natalie Cole to Headline August Festival on Martha's Vineyard

The Tabernacle and Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs will come alive with the sounds of jazz and soul during a new four-day festival coming up in August, according to an announcement appearing on multiple websites:

"'On The Vine' will take place on the island of Martha's Vineyard August 22 - 25, and will feature live performances by Kenny "BabyFace" Edmonds, jazz greats Kahil El Zabar, Roy Hargrove and James Carter, music legend and icon Smokey Robinson, comedian and kidney disease survivor Richard Lewis, Grammy Award winning violinist Miri Ben-Ari, singer-songwriter Angie Stone and others," reports the Atlanta Daily World online.

The festival is a benefit for the Rambam Health Care Campus located in Haifa, Israel and will help fund the kidney disease research of Prof. Karl Skorecki, according to ithe announcement published on websites including examiner.com and blackcelebritygiving.com.

Kidney survivor and multiple Grammy-winning performer Natalie Cole is the headliner for the festival, according to the event's press release, which lists the following dates:

Aug. 23, Featherstone: The Elevation Project with jazz percussionist Kahil El'Zabar performing as artists create visual work, followed by a fashion show

Aug. 25, Featherstone: Jazz brunch with Kahil El'Zabar, trumpeter Roy Hargrove and saxophonist James Carter

The "On The Vine" festival is produced by Dennis Shortt of Concretemixx22, a Chicago based "touch marketing agency," according to the Atlanta Daily World report.
