Over 400 People Ran the Chop for Island Kids

PJ Martinez came in first place in the 4th of July Run the Chop Challenge

Mudrick's Fudge sponsored their annual 5 mile road race yesterday that kicked off at the .

About 430 people participated, with PJ Martinez coming first with a time of 28:57. The first woman to cross the finish line was Alex Doll from Bethesda Maryland.

Although it was an exciting race with a lot of quick finishes, the purpose of the event was to raise money for Island kids.

Volunteer Kathy O'Sullivan explained, "All proceeds from the race goes to kids' charities. So it's really cool. There's no expenses that we take out of the proceeds."
