A new band, Cover This, made its second appearance as a group at Wednesday night. The Band covered a wide range of songs from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kings of Leon, George Michael to Billy Idol. The team is made up of four musicians who have been playing with various bands throughout the years. Lead singer, Dan Panico, is also known from the band, One Night Stand. Guitarist, Tyler Vunk, and drummer JB Lamont, are both members of the band Liquid. Guitarist Mike Kerr, plays in One Night Stand and Money Shot.
Panico, explained how new this band really is, “We actually hired JB on Monday of last week.”
Since the members are already well-known around the Island, they haven’t had trouble finding gigs at places like in Edgartown and Seasons in Oak Bluffs.
Michael Santoro, managing partner at Seasons, said, “Two members came to me. This was a new band just formed. They are a great cover band…I know Dan Panico from living on Martha’s Vineyard. He’s played at Seasons before.”
For now, the band goes by Cover This, but Panico said the name is subject to change.
“We’re contemplating the name because we don’t feel like it sticks enough. So we’ve been trying out a couple of different names.”
Ideas from INS to Wal-Mart Strippers have been suggested. “I mean…it’s catchy,” said Panico.
It started out as a quiet Wednesday night at the restaurant, but by 11 o’clock the bar was pretty full. Santoro explained that once the summer season begins, Seasons would have entertainment seven days a week, including karaoke on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
