Have You Ever Won an Ag Fair Blue Ribbon?

Everyone who has ever won a blue ribbon remembers it for life

Everyone who has ever entered a piece of art, a pie or a beloved chicken into the Agricultural Fair, and won a blue ribbon for their efforts, has a story to tell.

The only blue ribbon I ever won was for an "Island Wild Flower Book" I made with a family friend when I was six-years-old. It remains the only blue ribbon I ever won and I'm proud to say that I still have it and the wild flower book.

We want to know about the time you won a blue ribbon. Are you one of those win-at-least-two-every-year kind of winners? Do your lambs take away the coveted blue prize each summer? Or are you a once-in-a-lifetime winner like me? Have you never been able to make your beach plum jam the same as you did the year it got you a blue ribbon? Tell us your blue ribbon story in the comments!

When I submit my artist bio and resume, I proudly list the several blue ribbons I won for oil painting :) Sometimes however the judges' pick for the winner baffles me when I see other more gorgeous pieces of art, then I remember that they may be the same judges who pick the best beach plum jam, or miniature horse. At least that's how I console myself when I don't place!

How many have you won so far Nina?

I got the gold medal (blue ribbon) in 2007 for this picture "Peace by Grace." Foot signs by my new baby girl. I nearly feel backwards when I saw the ribbon, it was great!

Lara, I'm not surprised it got the blue ribbon at all. What an amazing photograph!
