"The Place of Testing: The Epic Expedition that Solved the Last Mystery of Tutankhamun’s Tomb" Lecture by Duncan Caldwell

Starting off on Martha's Vineyard, an expedition was launched along the Libyan/Egyptian border searching for the origin of a piece of meteoric glass from Tutankhamun's tomb, which came from part of the Sahara that had already become so hostile by Tut's dynasty, that the Egyptians of his time could not get there. So how did they get hold of such extraordinary material?

Vineyard summer resident Duncan Caldwell will discuss the discovery of prehistoric frescoes and scintillating nodules of meteoritic glass along the way to finding the site that finally held the answer to one of the most enduring mysteries of ancient Egypt.
