Vintage Vineyard Haven House Sold for $3.3 Million

An Arlington man is the new owner of a 1930s home on Main Street in Vineyard Haven that had been in the Strock family since the 1970s.

A Vineyard Haven waterfront home built in 1936 for the family of a Brooklyn newspaperman has changed hands for $3,350,000.

Dukes County land records show that Marcus Strock, trustee for the Main Street Trust, sold 93 Main Street to Peter Givertzman June 6.

According to local historian Chris Baer's website, the property known as the Crist House was purchased in 1935 by Addie Slack Crist, wife of Harris M. Crist of the Brooklyn Eagle, for $7,500. The couple demolished or removed an existing house to build their new home, which by the 1970s was owned by the Strock family.
