Sold for $1.45 Million: Pulitzer-Winning Writers' Vineyard Haven Home

Geraldine Brooks and Tony Horwitz have sold their 1840 Greek Revival mansion to an Alexandria, Va. couple. Brooks and Horwitz purchased a 1700s home in West Tisbury for $3 million in 2010.

The Martha's Vineyard starter home of a Pulitzer Prize-winning couple has been sold after more than a year and a half on the market.

According to Dukes County land records, Geraldine Brooks and Tony Horwitz have sold their home on Main Street in Vineyard Haven to John P. Corrado and Julia A. Corrado of Alexandria, Va. for $1.45 million.

The 1840 Greek Revival house has seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms in almost 5,000 square feet, according to AOL Real Estate. You can take a tour in the video above.

Brooks and Horwitz, each of whom has won a Pulitzer prize — his is for national reporting and hers for fiction — purchased a home on Mill Street in West Tisbury for $3 milllion in 2010.

A July, 2011 column in Martha's Vineyard Magazine reported that Horwitz and Brooks originally listed their Vineyard Haven manse at $2.2 million and that their new home up-Island is even older, built in the 1700s.
