Tisbury Town Meeting: What You Need to Know

Time, location and important issues at the Tisbury town meeting tonight

The Tisbury Town Meeting takes place tonight, Tuesday, April 10th at 7pm.

The meeting location is the gymnasium.

Town moderator Deborah Medders will preside over the session.

There is a 15-article special town meeting that will happen first, followed by the 33-article annual town meeting.

The special town meeting includes a request to borrow $200,000 for the following:

  • The town’s low-interest loan septic system upgrade program for homeowners
  • To dispose of three town-owned automobiles and one boat
  • Establish a trust fund for town employee retirement obligations

The annual town meeting warrant includes:

  • A $3 million project to build a bypass road through town-owned property that will redirect traffic away from State Road-Edgartown-Vineyard Haven Road
  • $400,000 for a water main to service the State Road business district
  • $225,000 to design and a new site for the town wastewater treatment facility
  • $1.25 million to build a second water tower next to the existing water tower near the town Park and Ride
  • $600,000 from the Community Preservation Act to fund town renovation and restoration projects

Tisbury’s annual town budget is $20.8 million, an increase of 1.4 per cent over last year.

Tisbury’s annual election will take place on Tuesday, April 24th.
