Obamas to Arrive on Vineyard After Road Race
It will be late Saturday afternoon before President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama arrive on Martha's Vineyard for their summer vacation.
Saturday's Chilmark Road Race will be long over by the time President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama arrive on Martha's Vineyard for their summer vacation.
The Obamas are scheduled to fly into Cape Cod Coast Guard Air Station aboard Air Force One, arriving at about 3:30 p.m. before boarding Marine One for the trip to Martha's Vineyard.
The White House has invited reporters to the Obamas' Cape landing, but their Vineyard arrival will be a more private affair.
Once on the Island, the Obamas will be renting the Chilmark home of financier David Schulte, according to multiple reports.
The $7.6 million dollar, 9.5-acre property sits just off Chilmark's busy South Road, the nearest stretch of which will be closed to all but neighbors until the Obamas depart Aug. 18.
Neighborhood residents will need to clear security checkpoints to come and go during the First Family's visit.
