Obama Orders Fried Seafood, Plays Hoops in School Gym, Dines Out with First Lady

Tuesday, Day 3 of President Barack Obama's Martha's Vineyard vacation, was too rainy for golf, but not for take-out from Nancy's and some basketball in the Oak Bluffs School gym. From pool reporters traveling with the president.

The president's motorcade rolled again at 7:22 p.m., arriving at the Beach Plum Inn & Restaurant in Menemsha at 7:30 p.m.

Earlier:

On the rainy third day of his Vineyard vacation, President Barack Obama spent the morning at the First Family's rented home in Chilmark before departing with his motorcade at about 12:30 p.m.

Arriving at Nancy's Snack Bar on Oak Bluffs Harbor at 12:55 p.m., Obama worked the rope line briefly in a light drizzle, greeting a small crowd that gathered.

Wearing a blue fleece, a Chicago White Sox cap and Nike sneakers, POTUS was met by cheers from bystanders as be exited his car.

He shook hands and greeted around 40 people who had gathered on decking outside the restaurant, saying "good to see you" and adding that it was "great to be here."

Dozens more people crowded to the windows of the upstairs restaurant, taking photographs with their smartphones and waving as the President went to pick up his order of fried seafood.

Obama told staff at the counter: "Good to see you man, thanks for feeding us." He then stepped inside to take photographs with Nancy's staff before returning to his car. Then he greeted Nancy's manager Doug Abdelnour, owner Joseph Moujabber, and other staff at the takeout window. He later ducked inside for quick pictures with staff.

The president has visited Nancy's on each of his Martha's Vineyard vacations. According to the White House, his Tuesday take-out order at Nancy's was fried shrimp, fried oysters, onion rings and french fries.

Obama then proceeded to the home of longtime friend and advisor Valerie Jarrett, overlooking Nantucket Sound. Despite heavy rain, a small number of poncho-wearers hoping to catch a glimpse of the president gathered outside.

The motorcade left Jarrett's house on Seaview Avenue at 2.17 p.m., passing a large crowd of excited bystanders at the far end of the street. Six minutes later, the president arrived at Oak Bluffs School to play basketball with Eric Whitaker, Marvin Nicholson, Sam Kass and "other staff," according to the White House.

First Lady Michelle Obama has not been traveling with the President today.

The motorcade left Oak Bluffs School at 3.59pm, arriving back at the Obamas' vacation home exactly 20 minutes later.
