Oak Bluffs Selectmen Tackle Monster Shark Tournament

Five things to know, do and/or consider on March 26, 2013.

  1. Snow going: The National Weather Service predicts any snow we may have gotten overnight will be departing today as skies gradually clear, with an expected high temperature of 43.
  2. Town reports are ready: Get yours at your local town hall and be prepared for next week's annual meetings.
  3. Speaking of town meetings: Oak Bluffs voters face the contentious issue of whether or not to make the annual Monster Shark tournament a catch-and-release affair. But before the voters get their hands on the issue, it's appearing on the town selectmen's agenda today at 5 p.m. for "discussion and possible vote." Stay tuned.
  4. This just in from Bunch of Grapes Bookstore via Facebook: "If the adoration of small children makes you feel like a super hero, if picture books and fairy tales haunt your dreams, if no one makes you happier than Frog & Toad, Ratty & Mole, Bink & Gollie, then Bunch of Grapes needs you! We're seeking volunteers to lead the occasional (or regular, if that's how you roll) story hour at Bunch of Grapes. If you'd like to share a story or three, a craft project, a puppet show, a song and dance, balloon animals - whatever, as long as it's book related, creative, kind, and age appropriate - with our youngest customers please contact susan@bunchofgrapes.com!"
  5. A Benefit for Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard, 6 p.m., Ocean View Restaurant, 16 Chapman Ave, Oak Bluffs - Here's how it works: "Celebrate the 186th anniversary of Beethoven’s death over dinner with Bratwurst and red cabbage or choose from the regular menu. Dine with Beethoven’s music. $10 entry ticket benefits Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard, dinner and drink extra."
