Oak Bluffs Approves Spending for Maintenance and Repairs

After making major cuts last year, voters approved spending $250K at a special town meeting on Tuesday night

At a special town meeting Tuesday night, Oak Bluffs voters unanimously approved the spending of $250,000 for maintenance and repairs to town buildings, reported the Martha’s Vineyard Times. The town, which cut over $300,000 last year due to fiscal constraints, approved the plan that includes new roofs for the police station and town hall; exterior painting and repairs to the library and police station; repairs to the HVAC systems of the town hall and library; a replacement boiler for the fire station and structural work at Sailing Camp Park.

According to the Times, the town also approved, “a $25,000 architectural study to evaluate construction of a new public safety building. The measure required a two-thirds majority and succeeded by three votes, after a standing tally.”
