New Tribal Leader Elected in Aquinnah
Will the election of Tobias Vanderhoop put the brakes on former chair Cheryl Andrews-Maltais's recently-announced plans for a casino on Martha's Vineyard? At least one business journalist thinks so.
The Wampanoag Tribe of Aquinnah has a new chairman following Sunday's election, Island newspapers are reporting:

- Tobias Vanderhoop elected to lead Wampanoag Tribe (Martha's Vineyard Times)
The election of Vanderhoop, who according to the Gazette won the election over incumbent Cheryl Andrews-Maltais 165-91, will likely put the brakes on Andrews-Maltais's recently-announced plans for an Aquinnah casino, according to Jon Chesto of the Boston Business Journal:
