Gov: Oak Bluffs Gets $3.6 Million for Sandy Repairs

Oak Bluffs is awarded the largest repair grant from the state announced this week.

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick this week announced more than $13 million in grants and loans for seawall, dam and breakwater repairs — and Oak Bluffs is getting the biggest grant of all.

The town will receive $3,600,000 to repair the North Bluff seawall, damaged more than a year ago by Superstorm Sandy.

"Repairing this structure helps protect public utilities and Oak Bluffs waterfront including transportation and ferry access, critical to the community’s economic health," according to the grant announcement.

Other grants range from $6,750 for a dam in Brookfield to $2,750,000 for seawall reconstruction in Hull.

Loans from the commonwealth range from $116,000 for the removal of a dam in Lancaster to $1,000,000 for dam repair in Westfield.
