Community Corner

Five Things to Know: Feb. 25, 2013

Another Martha's Vineyard work week begins: Here's what we know so far.

  1. Ice alert: The National Weather Service warns us to leave a little extra time to get where we're going this morning. Temperatures and a little snow both fell overnight, making walkways and other surfaces potentially icy and hazardous.
  2. We can pick 'em: Searching for Sugar Man, the music documentary that's been attracting Island movie audiences for months, won the Academy Award for best documentary feature last night.
  3. The Edgartown Board of Selectmen's meeting is canceled today, but the monthly Edgartown Community Supper is on at 5 p.m. in The Old Whaling Church across the street.
  4. West Tisbury's Planning Board meets at 5:30 at 1042 State Rd and the West Tisbury Community Survey is closing in on its March 1 deadline.
  5. Add the Wharf to the list of Island restaurants taking a winter break: A sign at the Edgartown eatery says it will reopen on St. Patrick's Day.
