Edgartown Offices to Close for Forest Steward's Funeral
From 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, town offices will close as employees and officials pay their respects to the late John J. Varkonda, whose funeral is at 11 a.m. Varkonda's widow is Edgartown Conservation Officer Jane Varkonda.
The Town of Edgartown has announced it will close Town Hall Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to allow for employees and officials to attend a funeral service.
The funeral for John J. Varkonda, longtime superintendent of the Island's state forest who died suddenly at 55 Dec. 31, begins at 11 a.m., according to his obituary.
Varkonda is survived by his wife, Edgartown Conservation Officer Jane Varkonda, and their two children.
