44 Aquinnah Voters Approve Gay Head Land Buy

With a minimum of 37 voters required for a quorum, 44 of Aquinnah's 373 voting residents took part in Tuesday night's special town meeting to decide the land purchase and 17 other warrant items, the Martha's Vineyard Times reports.

The town of Aquinnah will move to buy an unbuildable plot of land adjacent to the erosion-threatened Gay Head Lighthouse, the Martha's Vineyard Times reports in "Aquinnah special approves Gay Head lighthouse land purchase."

The lighthouse is expected to topple off its crumbling clifftop perch if it is not moved to a more secure location.
