Vineyard Haven Man Arrested Off-Island for Alleged 2nd OUI

Michael Kelly, 52, was taken into custody on suspicion of second offense OUI liquor after Hingham police tracked him down following a report that he was driving erratically and had struck a traffic island.

A 52-year-old Vineyard Haven man was arrested in Hingham Dec. 26 after a caller reported him driving erratically and striking a traffic island, according to Hingham police.

Michael Kelly, 52, was taken into custody on suspicion of second offense OUI liquor after police tracked him down, according to the Hingham police log. He was also cited for driving to endanger, leaving the scene of property damage and a marked lanes violation.

Kelly allegedly hit a traffic island with his Jeep Cherokee and knocked over a "Keep Right" sign, police said.

Arrest information does not indicate a conviction.
