2 Injured in Solo Crashes on Vineyard Roads
One driver hit a tree in West Tisbury around 9 a.m. Wednesday and the other ran into a power pole at about 6 p.m. the same day, according to Martha's Vineyard newspaper reports.
Solo-vehicle collisions in two Island towns sent drivers to Martha's Vineyard Hospital Wednesday, according to online reports from the Vineyard Gazette and Martha's Vineyard Times.
At around 9 a.m. in West Tisbury, a 55-year-old West Tisbury woman driving with a young child in her Mercury Mountaineer hit a tree on the Edgartown-West Tisbury Road, which was closed by police for about half an hour following the collision, reports the Vineyard Gazette. The child was uninjured and the extent of the driver's injuries was not known, according to the Gazette.
The Martha's Vineyard Times reports a 6 p.m. Oak Bluffs crash in which a Nissan SUV traveling on Sea View Avenue toward the Steamship Authority terminal hit a power pole head-on. The driver's identity and condition were not known, according to the Times.
