New Year's Gunplay Lands Man in Jail on Martha's Vineyard

Spraying shotgun shells into the air in Oak Bluffs was a sure-fire way to start the New Year in custody, reports the Martha's Vineyard Times.

On New Year's Eve in Oak Bluffs a Springfield-area man was arrested, had his firearms license revoked and faces a half-dozen charges ranging from disorderly conduct to carrying a loaded firearm while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, reports the Martha's Vineyard Times today.

Brian Weston, 60, of Hampden told police he was firing his shotgun into the air to celebrate the New Year; officers retrieved a festive assortment of 12 guns, 27 spent shell casings and more than 1,500 rounds of ammunition, the Times reports.
