Mother, Tot Airlifted After Single-Car Crash Injures 3 in Oak Bluffs
An Island couple and their child were injured when their Hyundai went off County Road in Oak Bluffs and hit several trees shortly before 3:30 a.m. Sunday, local newspapers report.
A 24-year-old Oak Bluffs woman and her 17-month-old child were taken to Martha's Vineyard Hospital and then flown to Boston for treatment following a single-car crash early Sunday morning, according to reports in the Vineyard Gazette and the Martha's Vineyard Times.
Kathlyn Medeiros and her child were trapped in their Hyundai Sonata after the vehicle went off County Road in Oak Bluffs and hit several trees shortly before 3:30 a.m., the newspapers report on their websites.
The baby's father, 28-year-old Gilmar Desouza, was also taken to MVH with injuries from the crash, according to the Times report.
Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash, but police cited Medeiros for negligent operation of a motor vehicle, the newspapers report. The crash remains under investigation.
