High-Speed Ferry Cancels Vineyard Trips After Taking On Water

The Lady Martha, a Hy-Line Cruises ferry serving Martha's Vineyard, took on water Tuesday morning in Hyannis Harbor.

High-speed ferry trips between Hyannis and Martha's Vineyard on the Lady Martha were canceled Tuesday, August 13, after the boat began taking on water in Hyannis Harbor.

According to capecodtoday.com, the boat was safely evacuated by Barnstable police and Hyannis fire firefighters.

Cape Cod Today reported a seal gave way and the vessel began taking on water.

Hy-Line Cruises, which operates the boat, tweeted "#ALERT TUE 8/13/13 All high-speed trips to & from Hyannis & Martha's Vineyard are cxl today, mechanical issues."

Inter-Island service is also cancelled Tuesday and Wednesday, Hy-Line Cruises posted on Facebook.
