Harbor View Hotel Hosts an Evening of Ancient Grains for Today's Table

EDGARTOWN, Mass.  ̶  May 8, 2014  ̶   On Thursday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m., Harbor View Hotel and Slow Food Martha’s Vineyard will host Ancient Grains for Today’s Table with special guest Glenn Roberts of Anson Mills, a South Carolina-based organic, heirloom grain mill. The evening’s menu, designed by Harbor View Executive Chef Nathan Gould, will showcase a variety of artisan and heirloom grains incorporated into contemporary dishes. Menu items include Old World Rye and Smoked Honey Butter; Fried Honeysuckle Oysters With Island-Grown Narragansett White Cap Flint Corn Meal and Radish Aioli; and Duck Cassoulet With Barley and Einkorn Broth, Sea Island Red Peas, Fava Beans, Mint and Ramps.

Throughout the evening, Roberts, a resident of both Chilmark and South Carolina who has worked to revive nearly extinct varieties of regional heirloom grains, will speak about a number of grain-based initiatives that he is sponsoring on Martha’s Vineyard and around the country. Tickets are priced at $49 per person and can be purchased online.
