Beary Christmas!

The Teddy Bears are back in town, and this year, they are staying for a month!

Now going into its fourth enchanting year, the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite, sponsored by Point B Realty, is a magical holiday tradition where family memories are made, and the money raised goes to help the Martha’s Vineyard Boys And Girls Club and its After School programs -- vital services used by hundreds of families across the Island.

This year, our fundraising dollars are going to help renovate the Gamesroom -- perhaps the most heavily used room at the Club, serving hundreds of children a week. It’s in need of substantial updating and improving, including new carpet and paint, new TV, ping pong table, and more.

This year, both the actual Teddy Bear Suite at the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown, and our online fundraising effort are running for a month, beginning Thanksgiving through the end of December.

The joyously decorated Teddy Bear Suite literally comes to life with hundreds of teddy bears dressed for the holidays, spread throughout the multi-room suite, engaged in all sorts of adorable teddy bear activities.

The Teddy Bear Suite exceeded its fundraising goal in 2013, raising more than $10,500. This year’s goal is $15,000. While there is a holiday raffle and suggested donation at the door, most of the money raised has been through the Teddy Bear Suite online donation site, where generous supporters of Martha’s Vineyard and its families have been able to show support whether on-Island or half a world away.

“We wanted to create a magical holiday tradition that was inclusive and fun for the entire Vineyard community -- that helped bring out the child in all of us -- while also helping raise much-needed funding and support for our year-round Island families through the Boys & Girls Club After School Program,” said Point B Owner/Principal Broker Wendy Harman.
