And bartender Doug is in no way my ex-romance.
Still, it was a Casablanca-worthy coincidence that the first place I chose to have a beer in my old/new home town was the Newes, where Doug quickly recognized me from my pre-Patch job in a Napa Valley spice shop.

If you'd like to have a reunion with the original Casablanca, the Martha's Vineyard Film Center has a special event coming up Sunday: A screening of the classic film at 4 p.m., followed by a prix-fixe ($35) Moroccan meal at Lucky Hank's in Edgartown at 6:15 p.m.

In other movie news, the film center is showing Kurosawa's Rashomon tonight at 7:30 p.m.
