SHARKS USE BIG 4TH INNING TO DOWN TITANS

The Martha's Vineyard Sharks downed the Torrington Titans 7-4 on a hit where the Sharks were actually outhit by the Titans. Sharks starter John Cook (Amherst) picked up his first win of the summer, while Chris Hatfield (Freed-Hardman) took the loss.

The Titans were able to get on the board first, with a run in the bottom of the 3rd. Ryan Kelly (Salve Regina) had a sacrifice groundout that scored Conor Fitzsimmons (CCSU). In the top of the 4th, the Sharks broke the game wide open. Davidson Peguero (Fisher) drove in the first run of the game, scoring Donnie Cimino (Wesleyan). A wild pitch then scored Eric Brenk (Wofford) to put the Sharks ahead 2-1. A hit by pitch with the bases-loaded allowed Peguero to score. A walk to Ryan Siegel (Mercyhurst) allowed Chris Miller (Seton Hill), which was followed by a fielders choice that pushed Max DiTondo (Franklin Pierce) across the plate. An error by the 3rd baseman allowed Vineyard native Jack Roberts (Williams) to score for the final run of the inning.

Sharks pitchers were able to hold off any Titans rally and win the game 7-4. The Sharks have a half game lead over the Silver Knights heading into a game with those same Silver Knights on Saturday (8/3) at 705 pm.
