SHARKS DOWN RAGING TIDE IN FIRST PLAYOFF GAME

The Martha's Vineyard Sharks were able to defeat the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide in the first game of the playoffs. With the victory, the Sharks have the ability to move into the championship with a win tomorrow or Tuesday if necessary.

The Futures League pitcher of the year Bob Carbaugh (Seton Hill) took the mound for the Sharks and got the win on the night. Before the game, Carbaugh, Ryan Siegel (Mercyhurst), and Dylan Tice were all honored by the league, with Siegel winning the batting title and Tice receiving the defensive player and MVP of the league. Head coach Mike Miller (Davis&Ellis) also received manger of the league for leading the Sharks to their winningest season ever.

The Sharks started the scoring with a run in the 2nd inning off a Chris MIller RBI single. Miller was the offensive star of the game after he hit a 3-run blast over the left field fence that put the Sharks up 4-0 heading into the 5th. Carbaugh pitched a great game, going 7.2 innings, allowing a solo homer to Fran Whitten (Maine) in the 7th and 2 runs in the 8th.
