Kids Day at the Park and the Movie "Knuckleball"

Wednesday, June 27 the Sharks will play the very first early morning game at 11:00 AM against the first place North Shore Navigators . Later at 6 PM the movie "Knuckleball" will be played.

Wednesday, June 27th, the Sharks will play the very first early morning game at Vineyard Baseball Park against the first place North Shore Navigators in an away and home series. Going into the 9th inning on Tuesday night the score between the two teams was 0 – 0 at the time this article was written.

Wednesday morning all summer camps and the Little League are invited to the 11:00 AM game with free admission. Later in the day starting at 6:00 PM will be the beginning of a joint fundraiser for the Little League, Martha's Vineyard Film Society and the Sharks. A number of games, contests and events will be planned that include throwing, running the bases, a Frisbee toss and whiffle ball. Once it becomes dark the movie “Knuckleball” (see a description of the movie below) will be played from centerfield thanks to the effort of the Martha's Vineyard Film Society.  Fans are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs so that they can enjoy the movie from the outfield. Food concession stands serving popcorn, burgers, franks, nachos, beverages and ice cream will be open throughout the evening.

Knuckleball is a classic sports story that recounts the 2011 journey of the last professional knuckleball pitchers: Tim Wakefield, a 17-year Red Sox veteran, and Mets up-and-comer R.A. Dickey (currently leading MLB in wins). Together with just four other living knuckleballers, they shine a light on their remarkable brotherhood and the shared pursuit of honor and craftsmanship.
