Here's a rundown of what's happening today as part of the Christmas in Edgartown Celebration

Author Talks at the Museum 9 am - 3 pm

Make the Museum a part of your Christmas in Edgartown festivities! Island authors will be in the Museum galleries throughout the day to share excerpts of their latest books and autograph them. There will be author talks in the Pease House Galleries. Admission to the Museum is free if you buy a book.

1 pm: Tom Dresser, “The Wampanoag Tribe of Martha's Vineyard: Colonization to Recognition”

Members, shop in the Museum gift shop during Christmas in Edgartown and receive 20% off your total purchase. Non-members, get 10% off.

Wreath Making Workshop 10 am – 4 pm

There will be a hands on wreath making workshop at Donaroma’s Nursery. Registration for wreath making required.

Annual Holiday Art & Craft Show with Raffle 10 am – 4 pm

The eighth grade is pleased to announce the Annual Christmas in Edgartown Art and Crafts Fair. Art, jewelry, candy, photography, candles, food and more!

Elves Fair 10 am – 4 pm

To benefit program. Craft making, games, food and silent auction. Auction winners announced at 3:30 PM

Teddy Bear Suite 10 am – 6 pm

Dozens of teddy bears in holiday-inspired attire will be on display in a magically decorated hotel suite. Wonderful photo opportunities and teddy bear theme books for children to read. Teddy bear raffle and donations to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Martha's Vineyard.  



Gingerbread House Workshop 10:30 am - noon

Held at The , please call to register.  

Location: Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary, 508-627-4850 Mass Audubon Society members $25 per house (2 people max per house), non members $30 per house 


Holiday Parade 11 am

Upper to Lower Main Street. Two $100.00 prizes for best float and non-float. Free


Hourly Christmas Draw 11 am – 4 pm

Christmas comes early with an hourly drawing. Starting from 11am through 5pm, leading manufacturers including Nike, Noon Watches and Hurley will sponsor our Christmas draw so come and enjoy Yule-time snacks and the chance to win! Nike purchases will also receive a free gift and stick around, as the Nike Grand Prize Draw will happen at noon on Sunday.


Open House with Island Artist Marjorie Mason 11 am – 1 pm

Four Season Palette Color Demonstration with Island artist Marjorie Mason.  



Book Signings with Various Authors 11 am – 2 pm

Edgartown Books presents a day of meeting your favorite authors and book signings.

11 am : Cynthia Riggs will sign the new guide book “Victoria Trumbull's Martha's Vineyard,” along with photographer Lynn Christoffers and mapmaker Step Wessley.

12 pm : Tony Horwitz will sign “Midnight Rising.”

1 pm : Alison Shaw will sign “Photographing Martha's Vineyard.”

2 pm : Saul Wisnia will sign “Fenway Park The Centennial 100 years of Red Sox Baseball.”

2 pm : Tom Dresser will sign “The Wampanaog Tribe of Martha's Vineyard “

Art Festival 11 am – 4 pm

Local artisans will be selling their work in the Chappy Room located at Kelley House  



Dickens Village Display 11 am – 5 pm

Spectacular Dickens Village Display  

Location: 104 Main Street. Free


27th Annual Great Chowder Contest 12 pm – 2 pm

Sample the island's best seafood and clam chowders by the island restaurants. Proceeds benefit the Red Stocking Fund.

Face Painting 12 pm – 2 pm

Come and watch artists at work, or be a canvas yourself!

Photos with Santa 12 pm – 2 pm

Have your photo taken with Santa! Benefits Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Martha's Vineyard

Coffee & Conversation with Ray Ellis 1 pm – 3 pm

Book signing with Edgartown artist Ray Ellis  



Family Dance-O-Rama 1 pm – 3 pm

Eisenhauer Gallery will be having a Family Dance-O-Rama with DJ Shizz in their courtyard. There will be Stone Crazy pizza and a huge cupcake tower by Cakes by Liz. And don't forget to check out our Jewelry Sale... bring in a food pantry donation & take 25% off all jewelry in stock!



The Whalers Art of Scrimshaw 2 pm – 3 pm

Tom DeMont will demonstrate and talk about the art of Scrimshaw at his shop.

Inns of Edgartown Tour 2 pm – 4 pm

Tour the Inns of Edgartown and enjoy refreshments. and Refreshments - Ashley Inn, Hob Knob, The Point Way Inn, The Victorian Inn, Harbor View Hotel & Kelley House Free


Eggnog & Cookies 2 pm – 4 pm

Stop by for some eggnog, home made gingerbread cookies and enter to win a famous Hob Knob breakfast for two and other chic door prizes.  



6th Annual CookieTasting Contest 2 pm – 5 pm

Minnesingers Holiday Family Concert Matinee 4 pm

The Preservation Trust proudly presents the MVRHS Minnesingers in their annual Holiday Family Concert at the . A delight for the entire family, admission is free for children under 12. Santa will be joining too! Fun for kids of all ages!

Moonrise Meander 4 pm – 5:30 pm

Take a guided evening stroll at Felix Neck Wildlife Sanctuary to watch the moonrise over Sengekontacket PondEveryone Welcome.

Grand Taste of Christmas 4 pm - 6 pm

Come to Sharky's Winter Wonderland for A Grande Taste of Christmas on the patio at Upper Main Street decorated by Donaromas. Your $10 donation entitles you to glasses of wine from Commonwealth Wine and Spirits, cups of coffee from Boston's Best Coffee with flavored Kahlua and samples of chowder from MV Chowder Company. Special prizes from Vineyard Vines will be raffled off throughout the event.

Guided Ghost Walking Tour 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

Take a lantern lit guided ghost walking tour of the ghosts of Edgartown. Fun for the entire family and ALL ages are welcomed. Come learn and explore about the Ghosts of Edgartown 'PAST', Ghosts of Edgartown 'PRESENT' and the Ghosts of Edgartown Christmas 'YET TO COME'. Starting next door to at the Mini Park on Main Street.
