If the Gay Head Lighthouse isn't moved soon, it will fall off its crumbling cliff and be lost forever.
The need is urgent. This winter could bring catastrophe to the historic and beloved lighthouse.
Efforts underway to save the lighthouse include sales of T-shirts and other merchandise and a 10-kilometer fundraising run coming up this weekend.
The Gay Head 10K takes place Sunday, Oct. 6. Registration is open online through Friday at midnight at gayheadlight.org. Late registrations will be accepted Saturday at the number pick up event at the Aquinnah town hall from 3 to 6 PM, according to race organizers.
