MV Writer's Residency Readings, Hosted by JUSTEN AHREN

Poetry and Writing series honors MVWR for an evening of readings by residents current and past. 

Since 2007 MV Writers Residency has provided established and emerging writers of poetry, fiction, non-fiction, memoirs, and plays the time and space to create or complete new work. 

Hosted by founder and director of MVWR, JUSTEN AHREN. He is currently the West Tisbury Poet Laureate, co-director of the Pathways / Featherstone Summer Festival of Poetry, and founder of a writing workshop in Labro, Italy.

AMY FRIEDMAN is a writer, editor and ghostwriter, with a M.A. in creative writing from City College, New York. Her most recent books are Desperado's Wife: A Memoir and One Souffle At a Time: A Memoir of Food and France with Anne Willan. 

CARLYN ATTMAN is a writer, traveler, and actor. Originally from Baltimore, she currently lives in Bath, England where she's completing her MA in Writing for Young People at Bath Spa University. She is at work on a young adult novel, the story of a girl who learns to accept herself through her transforming relationships with new friends and the sea.

JENNY KLION'S short plays and performance pieces have been produced at Dance Theater Workshop, the Knitting Factory, Dixon Place, Movement Research, Ethnic Folk Arts Center, New Perspectives Theater, and Westbeth Theatre Center in New York City; at the Painted Bride Art Center in Philadelphia; and at the Warehouse Theater in Washington, DC.

XENIA HANUSIAH is an award-winning Australian writer whose work spans from non-fiction to essay writing and criticism to the theatre stage. Her most recent stage work, ‘Ward B’ was awarded a Literature Board Grant from the Australia Council, followed by an R.E Ross Trust Award. Other recent works, ‘A thousand doors, a thousand windows’ and ‘Earth Songs’ have been performed on international stages from Italy, Australia, Korea, Singapore, China and the USA. A cultural essayist, critic and non-fiction writer over the past 15 years Xenia’s works has been published by all the major Australian media and literary publications, the Boston Globe, South China Post, Limelight and Opera, opera. 

ELIZABETH BARKER is a Los Angeles-based writer and editor. The former executive editor of music blog NoGoodForMe.com, she studied journalism and English at the University of Rhode Island. Her fiction has appeared in Venus magazine and on Storychord.com, while her music writing is regularly featured on Popdose.com. 

JACK SONNI is a writer, musician and nomad provacateur. He is also Noepe's first manager / writer in residence. He is currently at work on a memoir about how are dreams are made and shaped and the importance of chasing them.
